why isn't castigation signet considered for monk e-management in PvP and PvE?
Despite being a smiting prayer signet, I find castigation signet to be good energy management. The reason being that with decent investment of smiting prayers, it can be a very good energy management signet (not to mention not relying on other secondary prof for e-management). Also, with 15 second recharge, and signet costs no energy, with decent investment on smiting prayer attribute and in conjunction with Mantra of Inscriptions, this signet can serve more superior energy management than Power Drain (which interruption can be difficult) and Glyph of Lesser Energy.
But the big question is, why isn't this signet considered for energy management? After all, eles and monks tend to have energy problems.

as the player in question will have to invest quite a few attribute points into the line and, correct me if im wrong, it only gives 8 energy at 12 smite. that's why many people are still using GoLE, as it requires no att. points.

Thats the problem. Too much att. spread is not good, and you are asking for [mantra of inscriptions] which would be a waste of a skill slot.

Only time I use it for e-management is when I run a support smite monk. Otherwise, GoLE outshines it easily.

every 1 tri monks now a days, but i think rawr used a smiting monk with you're all alone, Three pounds was full prot monk any way so its just a matter of taking some from DF,

I'd hazard a guess that rawr ran Castigation Signet on their RC as it complemented their spike based play style.
On an RC/Prot Monk you generally have a lot more leniency with your attribute points unless your speccing heal for Gift of Health. You can drop divine favour to 8+1 and spec 10+1 in smiting for an 8 energy castigation signet, but even then your only going to be netting an additional 0.02 energy per second and that's provided you land the condition on the signet every time. Mantra of Inscriptions helps but at that stage your probably looking at an entirely different build due to attribute spread.

i like using it on my heroes because usually bring tahlkora (protection) and dunkuro (healing) and it's good energy management for them. for the most part their spells are all only 5 energy besides rezes and prot spirit on tahlkora. i only have their attributes spread into 3 (10 prot, 10 smite, 11 divine) / (12 heal, 11 divine, 6 smite) not counting runes
so in all it can be good it all just depends on your style of builds
Edit: i wouldn't use it in pvp though as there are better options and more likely of a chance to shut down signets

That used to be the case. Nowadays, I don't understand why anyone would run that. I guess rawr has enough off-monk support, healing, and defense that you can screw around by lowering divine favor, but considering she misses energy gain on a good portion of them, it's really inefficient and more of a "fun skill" simply because rawr has the tools to do that.
